Laricold Tablets contain paracetamol, phenylephrine hydrochloride and chlorpheniramine maleate. Laricold is a prescription medicine (Schedule G), used as directed by a doctor for relief of common cold symptoms such as fever, headache, body ache, a blocked or runny nose, sneezing and watery eyes.
Warning: This fixed dose combination shall not be used in children below four years of age.

How the ingredients work
- Paracetamol relieves pain and reduces fever.
- Phenylephrine hydrochloride is a nasal decongestant. It narrows blood vessels in the nose to ease a blocked nose.
- Chlorpheniramine maleate is an antihistamine. It helps with sneezing, a runny nose and itchy, watery eyes, and it can cause drowsiness.
Dosage
As directed by the physician. Do not take more than prescribed, and do not take it with other medicines that contain paracetamol.
Who should not take Laricold
- Anyone allergic to paracetamol, phenylephrine, chlorpheniramine or any other ingredient
- Children below four years of age
Ask a doctor before use if you have high blood pressure, heart disease, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, an enlarged prostate or difficulty passing urine, liver or kidney disease, or epilepsy, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Tell the doctor about all other medicines you take, especially MAO inhibitors, other decongestants, sedatives and sleeping pills.
Side effects and safety
- Drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth or nausea
- Raised blood pressure, a fast heartbeat, restlessness or trouble sleeping, linked to phenylephrine
Chlorpheniramine can make you drowsy, so do not drive or operate machinery if affected, and avoid alcohol.
Warning: Taking more than the daily dose of paracetamol may cause serious liver damage or allergic reactions, such as swelling of the face, mouth and throat, difficulty in breathing, itching or rashes. Stop the medicine and get medical help straight away if these occur.
Storage
Store protected from light and moisture, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Improper storage may deteriorate the product. Keep the medicine out of reach of children.
