What is Sildenafil Citrate?

Sildenafil Citrate is a drug that was initially approved by the FDA in 1998 under the brand name Viagra. The mechanism of action of Sildenafil Citrate is to relax the blood vessel in the penis, it allows more blood into the specific area. This helps men to get an easy erection.

Mechanism of Action: How Sildenafil Citrate Works:

Sildenafil Citrate is a PDE5 (Phosphodiesterase-5) inhibitor that blocks the action of PDE5. Phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) is an enzyme that is used to break down Cyclic Guanosine Monophosphate. This molecule helps to relax the muscle cells in the blood vessels in the penis. Sildenafil helps to keep blood vessels relaxed by blocking the breakdown process of Cyclic Guanosine Monophosphate (cGMP). This complete process helps men to get and maintain an erection.

Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) and Sildenafil Citrate:

It can lead to breathing shortness. Sildenafil Citrate is a medication that treats PAH, it relaxes the blood vessels in the lungs. It makes it easy for the heart to pump blood into the lungs.

Sildenafil citrate is a medication that is used to treat PAH. It works by relaxing the blood vessels in the lungs, which makes it easier for the heart to pump blood and improves the symptoms of PAH. It is usually taken by mouth and the effects start within 30 minutes after taking it.

Role in Sexual dysfunction:

The main function of sildenafil citrate tablets is the treatment of erectile dysfunction (an inability to sustain a satisfactory erection to complete sexual intercourse). Sildenafil Citrate is now one of the frontline treatments for erectile dysfunction, and people suffering from diabetes also have a big improvement in erectile dysfunction.  This medication has tentative evidence that suggests that sildenafil can help men who experience antidepressant-induced erectile dysfunction. Rather than this, sildenafil improves some markers of disease in people with pulmonary arterial hypertension disease.

Raynaud’s Phenomenon Treatment with Sildenafil Citrate

Sildenafil citrate tablet is used to alleviate vasospasm and treat severe ischemia and ulcers in the fingers and toes of people with secondary Raynaud’s phenomenon.
