Dosycal-Plus Softgel:
Calcitriol Calcium carbonate and Zinc capsules are available in both forms hard gelatin and soft gelatin. Dosycal Plus Softgel capsules consist of Calcitriol, Calcium Carbonate, and Zinc Sulphate. Calcitriol is usually used in patients with kidney disease who are unable to make enough of the active form of Vitamin D. Dosycal Plus is also used to prevent and treat certain types of calcium/phosphorus/parathyroid problems that can happen with long-term kidney dialysis or hyperparathyroidism

DESCRIPTION:
Dosycal Plus Softgel contains Calcitriol along with calcium and zinc. Calcitriol increases blood calcium levels (Ca2+) by promoting the absorption of dietary calcium from the gastrointestinal tract and increasing renal tubular reabsorption of calcium thus reducing the loss of calcium in the urine. DOSYCAL PLUS Calcitriol is used to prevent low levels of calcium in the body and also helps in bone disease in patients who have kidney disease or parathyroid glands.
Uses of Dosycal Plus softgel:
Calcitriol is prescribed for:
- Treatment of hypocalcemia – hypoparathyroidism, osteomalacia (adults), rickets(infants, children), renal osteodystrophy, chronic kidney disease
- Treatment of osteoporosis
- Prevention of corticosteroid-induced osteoporosis
Calcitriol has been used in an ointment for the treatment of psoriasis, although the vitamin D analog calcipotriol (calcipotriene) is more commonly used. Calcitriol has also been given by mouth for the treatment of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Research on the nonacademic actions of calcitriol and other VDR-ligand analogs and their possible therapeutic applications has been reviewed
Mechanism of action Of Calcitriol:
Calcitriol maintains the level of calcium in the blood, and promotes the absorption of dietary calcium gastrointestinal tract. Increase the renal tubular reabsorption of calcium, which reduces calcium loss. Stimulates the calcium released from bones.
