The procedure for preventive Maintenance of Lab Instrument is documented and approved by the Quality Control Manager and Quality Assurance manager after duly verification. It is very essential to prevent lab instruments from any breakdown during their operation and use. A documented record is required to follow at the time of operation and preventive maintenance. The document that describes the whole process of preventive maintenance of lab instruments step by step is called SOP for Preventive Maintenance of Lab Instruments.

This procedure is applicable to the Quality Control Department of XYZ Pharma Company.

SOP for Preventive Maintenance of Lab Instrument

Procedure:

General cleaning:

Before starting of cleaning it should be ensured that the power supply to the instrument is switched ‘OFF’.Clean the instrument with a clean dry cloth every day or before use.Read Instrument Operation SOP before running or use.Read all instructions and Do’s and Don’t’s.

Performance Verification:

 Check whether the instrument is running smoothly and not making any adverse noises?      

  Check Whether the instrument is performing well and giving analysis results within the prescribed limit?

Log Book Entry

Check the previous logbook entry and ensure that the last time instrument gave accurate results.

Enter this time running details in the logbook.

Precaution:

All precautions have to be taken regarding electric connections.

Check the atmospheric condition by Hygrometer and maintain the conditions.

Check the running noise of the instrument if it differs from routine, then inform the maintenance department immediately.

5.2.3.2.2 All activities have to be submitted to QC Manager after every test performed on the instrument.
