Zinte-M | Montelukast Sodium and Levocetirizine Hydrochloride tablets

Montelukast Sodium and Levocetirizine Hydrochloride tablets i.e. Zinte-M tablet is a combination of Levocetirizine Hydrochloride and Montelukast sodium molecules, it is an anti-allergic and antihistamine tablet. 

It is used to treat sneezing and runny nose brought on by allergies, hay fever, and allergic skin disorders are treated with levocetirizine and montelukast.

Understanding Allergies

It is used as a medicine in tablet and oral liquid forms. Levocetirizine was approved by FDA in 2008. The top brands of Levocetirizine are Xyzal and Allegra-D.

The dose of Levocetirizine for a child over 6 years is 5mg once a day. 2.5mg for 2 to 5 years. It can cause some side effects such as drowsiness, headache, and dry mouth.

Combination therapy of Montelukast and Levocetirizine:

Combining Levocetirizine with Montelukast, two medications that treat runny nose and sneezing brought on by allergies results in Levocetirizine + Montelukast i.e. Zinte-M tablet. An antiallergen, levocetirizine, blocks the chemical messenger (histamine) that causes a runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. A leukotriene antagonist, montelukast. By obstructing another chemical messenger, it functions (leukotriene). This alleviates symptoms by reducing inflammation (swelling) in the airways and nose.

Administration: It is taken orally with or without food.

Side effects of Levocetirizine + Montelukast (Zinte-M Tablet)

The common side effects of Levocetirizine and Montelukast tablets are Diarrhea, mouth dryness, exhaustion, headache, drowsiness, nausea, constipation, abdominal pain medial otitis (infection of the ear), and Influenza. 

Drug Interactions  

There are not any available data about the drug interaction of Montelukast and Levocetirizine tablets. But it does not mean that this combination of drugs does not interact with any drug. You should always tell your doctor which types of medicines you are taking other than Levocetirizine and Montelukast tablets at that time, the doctor will decide what can interact with this medicine. 

Do not use Hydroxyzine and Cetirizine with this combination because these all are antihistamines that can cause drowsiness due to an overdose of antihistamines.

There may be more than 100 drugs that can interact with montelukast including fluticasone/salmeterol, Aspirin, Diphenhydramine, vilanterol, and Loratadine.
